I’m scrolling through my daughter’s photos of her trip to Australia when I see him.

In the background. Blue shirt. Gray beard.

He looks familiar. It can’t be . . . can it? My dead fiance.

But that’s impossible.

He drowned in a boating accident off Long Island over twenty years ago.

He was the love of my life. We were planning our dream wedding. I was pregnant with his child.

And then he was gone.

I rebuilt my life from nothing. Raised our daughter alone. Eventually stopped grieving.

But now he’s back.

Which means one thing.

The man I loved didn’t just leave me. He lied about everything.

And what am I going to do about it?
