Detective Inspector Maureen Lyons has built her reputation on results. But before she can hunt a killer, she needs to put a name to the woman in the bog.
The victim’s clothes weren’t cheap. Her jeans pocket holds thirty-five pounds in old Irish banknotes. And a deep wound at the base of her skull points to a deliberate attack.
Her shoes are missing.
Someone left her in a shallow grave on the Wild Atlantic Way. Now Maureen and her Galway team must piece together what happened on this lonely stretch of coastline, while the passing years have done their best to erase it.
It’s a long way back to start asking questions. But Maureen doesn’t like loose ends.

David Pearson says he takes inspiration from authors such as Ian Rankin, Ann Cleeves and Colin Dexter. He sets his novels on the west coast of Ireland along the Wild Atlantic Way and closer to home in Dublin.
A keen photographer, he enjoys taking landscape photos of the ever-changing scenery that Ireland affords, and spends as much time as possible in the west coast area which he says he finds inspirational for his books.
