The latest pulse-pounding thriller from the master of the moral dilemma and Sunday Times bestseller Jack Jordan.
Aaron Alexander has just been released from jail after serving eleven years for causing the death of Joshua Moore in a hit-and-run. Now a free man, all he wants to do is stay on the straight and narrow and leave his troubled past behind him.
But for Joshua’s mother Evelyn, eleven years in jail isn’t nearly enough. Consumed by grief and rage, she has been waiting for Aaron’s release, counting down the days until she can exact the revenge he deserves. And now that time has come.
However, as Evelyn and her husband Tobias embark on a road trip to track Aaron down, they soon find themselves caught on two different sides of a gripping game of cat-and-mouse. Because Tobias knows what Evelyn is planning, and he will do anything to save her from herself. Even if it means protecting the man who killed their son.
Locked in a collision course set in motion eleven years ago, Aaron, Evelyn and Tobias are about to find out whether the road they have chosen leads to retribution . . . or redemption.

I have no idea how to feel about this book. A lot is going on, and most definitely a fitting title. A harrowing story of how one night destroys the lives of 3 people. It doesn’t shy away from the pain, hurt and anger.

The feels I have with this book! Evelyn is a broken woman, Tobias is trying to protect her and Aaron is the man who started it all. However, don’t be fooled it’s not as black and white as it seems. You start off thinking you know who to root for, and support but it’s not the case and as we get deeper and deeper into the book, you realise this. I couldn’t even work out how it would end, and what ending I would be happy with. I would say very bittersweet.

Each character has lost something by the end, a piece of themselves and so much more. For some, it’s a fresh start, a chance to start over and begin something special from it. But has everyone paid their dues?

I think it’s very safe to say this book is going to live in my head rent-free for a few days while I try to figure out how I feel. Don’t get me wrong it’s an amazing book. I just don’t know if the actions of some of the characters justify their means. It is heartbreaking, and so much pain has been caused, but was it worth it? I don’t feel a couple of the characters got the justice they deserve.

It was such a gripping read, it is relentless and it is so tense. Will Evelyn finally catch up with Aaron? Will Tobias do what he always does and save the day? Those last few chapters, I would have bitten my nails if I did that, I had no idea how it would go once that door was knocked. To say the least that was a shock in itself.

I find with all of Jack Jordan’s books, they provide a great conversation starter, they are all books that make you think, What would you do? I think that is where my dilemma lies, what would I do?

Until the next time xxx
