Set in the late 1970s, Harry Crawford is a hapless graduate from a polytechnic in North-East England. Harry finds himself enlisted on an eventful fortnight with the Territorial Army in Dorset, where he picks up a lively group of friends who nickname him Horace.
It seems that things are looking up for Harry when he begins a new job as a junior site engineer on a road contract, but all is not as it seems. The sub-station that his team are building is just a front to provide building materials and labour for the construction of two luxury houses.
Furthermore, it is unclear if his mentor has gone missing or is in hiding. Harry is innocently drawn into a corrupt scheme. He soon finds himself wrestling with his conscience, his honour and the importance of friendship.
A story of crime, love and real life with a humorous tone that will keep you rooting for Harry all the way!
