Divine Imperfection takes place in Ireland, inside a University Space Centre (a self-sufficient Biosphere) hidden in the Wicklow Mountains. One of the inmates is Dan Downs, a charismatic tutor with a violent past and a dark secret. He is a victim of ‘Kingdom Crashing’ a cruel bioterrorist experiment, that has left him with three months to live. He believes he has a powerful bond with a personal God, a Cosmic Soul, that will enable him to survive his condition. But he must obey his God’s commands.

Dan has been in love with Mary (a medical geneticist at the Biosphere) for eight years and finally plucks up the courage to declare his love. Upon discovering Dan’s secret, Mary lays down an ultimatum. There can be no future for them unless he accepts her medical intervention and cure. Dan objects to Mary’s interference and holds his faith in God. Mary leaves the Biosphere to work in Dublin, hoping to bring Dan to his senses.

Mary’s departure unleashes Dan’s savage, transgenic nature within the Community, to force her to return. There is no way Dan will ever let Mary go, for she is the only one who can fulfil his God’s commands. Mary is an atheist and a sceptic. All she wants is to cure Dan and sever his faith in his cruel ‘God’.

Dan, the man with a dark secret, has more to lose than his faith in God.

About Amanda Clarke

Amanda M Clarke was born in Lincolnshire UK of Irish parents and continued to travel around the world while her father was in the RAF. From the age of six onwards and during the many years her father worked for the European Space Agency (ESA) Amanda's fascination for humanity's exploration of Space and "what makes people tick' became ignited and she went on to read philosophy at Exeter University then to train as an osteopath at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine. Amanda ran her own osteopathic practice in Lewes, East Sussex for ten years before moving to Essex, where she now lives with her husband Ron and their little cat Spacee.

Amanda is excited by what drives people to survive and overcome adversity. She is convinced that there is intelligence 'out there in the universe'. Divine Imperfection, her debut novel, an erotic, futuristic, psychological thriller embraces this idea. Her next novel hopes to explore humanity's colonisation of Mars - not focusing on 'space age technology' but the psychology and emotional evolution of a new communtiy dealing with the challenges of what it means to be human.
